Students
If you’re a fresher just arriving in Sheffield, or a returning student seeking out a church to settle in, we’d love to welcome you at Christ Church Central. Three words capture what being a student at Central is about:
Community
Moving away from home to a new life as a student can be daunting as well as exciting, filled with all kinds of challenges and possibilities. At Christ Church Central we want to give students a home away from home as part of a church family committed to seeing them grow and thrive in student life and beyond.
Mission
We want to see Sheffield become a place where the name of Jesus is proclaimed, trusted, praised and loved by all. With over 50,000 people registered at Sheffield’s two universities, students are an integral part of this mission. Our great desire is to reach out to students who don’t go to church, including the friends, neighbours and course-mates of students who join our church family.
Devotion
In order to fulfil this mission, Christ Church Central is devoted to seeing students go as far as possible in a life of passionately following the Lord Jesus Christ. We want students to become involved and devoted too, not for our own sake, but so that together we can experience real life by laying down our lives for Jesus and his good news.
So, how do we go about doing all that?
- Sunday Services: We meet every Sunday at 10:30am and at 6pm at Egerton Hall. Most students currently go to 6, but why not try both one Sunday?
- StudentCentral: After the 6pm service students get together in a home for discussion, teaching, prayer and food.
- Student121: A chance to read the bible, pray, and form a mentoring relationship with an older, wiser Christian.
- StudentExtra: Once a term we plan to leave the sounds and smells of the city, head out to the Peak District for a time of encountering God through his word and building friendships.
- Serving: Students get involved by serving in a variety of ways. Why not take a look at the other ministries at Central?
